First, to answer the question of whether paint protection film is self-healing, we need to understand its composition.
Paint protection film mainly consists of three parts, taking YEECAR paint protection film as an example:
The first layer is a high-performance nano-coating, a 0.5 mil nano-level top coating that self-heals surface scratches, resists acid and alkali corrosion, resists dirt, is impermeable, and has strong hydrophobicity;
The second layer is an aliphatic TPU substrate, produced by Agutech Corporation in the United States, a 6.0 mil high-density polyurethane film with high toughness, high tear resistance, impact resistance, cold and heat resistance, aging resistance, and anti-yellowing;
The third layer is a Japanese Ashland adhesive layer, a 1.5 mil acrylic adhesive with strong adhesion to painted surfaces, strong removability, and its main function is low initial viscosity followed by high viscosity, making it easy to apply and leaving no adhesive residue after removal.
